An update on all things Sophie

Only a week out from her second birthday, I thought it was time to do an update - can't believe it has been a year since the last!
Over the last year we have learnt that Sophie is very independant, stubborn (or should we call it determined?!), and competitive. Oh, and boy does she have a good head of hair!
As yet Sophie is still to have her first hair cut, with the idea that if we grew her fringe out it would be easy to just tie back and keep out of her way and not have to constantly cut her fringe. All good in theory, however Sophie doesn't particularly like having her hair tied back! Started early with her constantly pulling out her hair clips (a recent clean out of her car seat revealed 5 clips that had slipped throught the seat belt gap, even more under the seat, on the floor of the car, and in the door). Now that her hair is longer she is pretty good at keeping her hair clips in, but hates having her hair brushed and tied back. Unless it is not her mum or dad doing it, and then it is fine. Shouldn't be a problem as long as grandma or an aunty can come around every morning before kinder/school.
Just in the last couple of weeks her speech has improved incredibly. Up until then she had been saying not much at all - except through scowls, dirty looks and hissy fits. Her vocab pretty much consisted of 'ta', 'drink', 'bye bye', 'mum', 'dad', and 'poo poo'. She has now expanded her vocab dramatically starting with 'baby', 'booby' and 'hold' when baby Matthew arrived. She is now saying 'hello', 'hayden', 'book', 'NO' (isnt' that a fun word), 'duck', 'truck', 'woof', 'bus', 'bird', 'car' and has put words together to say 'put it away' and 'thanks mum' which she says regularly which is nice. She has also worked out the sounds that the following things make; duck, sheep, cow, pig, horse, dog, cat, crocodile, lion, tiger, train (toot toot), truck (honk honk).
She loves her brothers (most of the time), loves the trampoline, and takes after her mother skipping around the house and swinging and climbing on anything she can.
While she is getting so big so quickly, she is still only a little thing. Her official measurements (taken yesterday) are 10.9kg and 84 cm. Puts her in the lower percentiles for her age, but her head circumference is off the charts. Big head, big brains???
In what is a worrying sign, she is already choosing her own outfits to wear - usually a dress - but is happy to wear anything if we tell her how pretty she looks!
She has kept us on our toes for the last twelve months, but seems to be coming good. We are hoping that turning two means the end of terrible twos!

Mover
Sophie is on the move. December 1st we had lift off when she finally worked out that she had to move her hands if she wanted to get anywhere. She is now well and truly finding her way around the house (and into things she shouldn't be!) and is starting to try to pull herself up to stand on things.
For the last month she has not been happy if we try to sit her down - whether it is on the floor or in the car set - and this is still the case as she hasn't worked out how to get from sitting to crawling without scaring herself or bumping her head.
She has been very different to Hayden in that she very much wants to stay with Mum or Dad and doesn't like being passed around at all. She is improving a little bit, but is especially grumpy if she is tired.
She has a very healthy appetite, and is still sleeping through the night (plus a couple of naps during the day). no sign of any teeth yet.

.jpg)
Well,well. 6 months already!
Check up with the maternal health nurse went well. Cruising at the moment.
Measurements:
6.77kgs
64 cm long (I like to say tall!)
Brown eyes have become even browner! (Beautiful!)
Started giggling lots when tickled.
Rolling over from back to tummy - when Hayden is around helping her!
Sitting up occasionally by herself - usually when propped and pre balanced on soft surfaces!
Still sleeping really well.
Onto and loving solid foods - fruit and veg at this stage.
I just think she's beautiful! (Dad)
